Why the student rate may vary
By explanation ZUS, pupils and students who have not reached 26 years old are not subject to insurance under the usual umowa zlecenia on the conditions specified in the source. There are exceptions for working for one's own employer; they must be checked separately. At umowa o pracku, the status of a student in itself does not cancel the contributions - this can be seen in ZUS comparative table.
There is a separate tax ulga dla móżyany for defined incomes of young people up to 26 years old with an annual limit of 85 528 zł. Student status is not a general condition for this tax credit; the type of income matters. The benefit does not cover income taxed under the ryczałt regime. The conditions are given on website of the Ministry of Finance.
Therefore, the mark "student" is not a universal answer to the question of payment. Ask for a calculation for your contract, not a one-sentence explanation of "no tax".
What data to prepare for inspection
| data | Why specify? |
|---|---|
| Date of birth | Determine the moment of change in age conditions |
| Current study status | Confirm that the status is valid during the work period |
| Document of the educational institution | Find out which proof is accepted by the issuing party |
| Type of contract | Distinguish employment contract from zlecenia |
| Other employment | Check compatible grounds and exceptions |
| Income during the year | Check the application of tax relief |
This is a list of questions for responsible accounting, and not a requirement to send everything in the first application. If you are studying outside of Poland, specify the required document, its date and the need for translation. Don't assume that a photo of an old student ID is enough.
How to read a line with a bet
Conditional announcement: "base rate 28 zł netto; students up to 26 — 35 zł". The second line does not say netto or brutto, so it is not yet suitable for comparison. Ask to supplement the basis of the bid, the contract and the conditions for confirming the status.
If both amounts are confirmed as netto for the respective categories, the difference in 160 hours is 1 120 zł. This is just the arithmetic of a hypothetical example, not an earnings forecast. Housing or transportation fees may remain the same; an increased rate does not mean free accommodation.
Compare your own confirmed rate to another job, not one posting's base rate to another's student maximum. U articles about netto and brutto there is a table of such a comparison.
What to do when the status changes
Notify the party responsible for registration about the completion of studies, loss of status and approaching 26 anniversary. Ask to explain in advance from which payment and how the calculation will change. Status issues may arise between the completion of one stage of education and entry into another: do not make a conclusion based only on the presence of a ticket.
Also, find out on what basis you have health insurance. A higher amount on hand does not replace an insurance protection check. ZUS separately explains, who registers the student for health insurance.
How to ask a question to a manager
"I am 23 years old, I am studying and I want to check the student conditions of this vacancy. What is the contract, what documents are required and what will be the rate after inspection? How will the calculation change if the status ends?” Such a conversation is more useful than simply asking to confirm the highest number.
View vacancies and leave a request Euworkly regarding a specific offer. Student conditions must be confirmed before starting work; they do not replace verification of the contract.
